Final countdown for jobseekers on EPWP database

The City of Cape Town is calling all jobseekers registered on the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) Jobseeker Database to ensure their details are up to date by Friday, 31 October 2025.
From Saturday, 1 November 2025, the EPWP Jobseeker Database system will automatically deactivate jobseekers who have not updated their details within the past 12 months – either from the date of first registration or their last update. Their profiles will then be deactivated until they update their details.
Only active jobseekers will be randomly selected for upcoming EPWP work opportunities across the metro.
‘We don’t want anyone to miss out on temporary work opportunities simply because their information is out of date. If you are registered on the EPWP Jobseekers Database, please make sure you update your details by Friday, 31 October 2025, to keep your profile active and available for upcoming opportunities,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
How to update details
Jobseekers can update their information in any of the following ways:
• Visit a City of Cape Town Subcouncil Office or SmartCape Centre in a public library (weekdays, 08:00 – 15:30)
• Email EPWP.Help@capetown.gov.za
• Visit the EPWP Walk-in Centre at 50 Wale Street, Cape Town (weekdays, 08:00 – 15:30)
Jobseekers must bring:
• A clear copy of their ID
• Proof of address (or an affidavit signed by a Commissioner of Oaths or Ward Councillor)
• Household and contact details
• Updated CV, including any previous EPWP work

By registering on the database, residents position themselves to be considered for available EPWP placements as they arise across various departments and initiatives,’ said Alderman Twigg.
Reminder: It is free to register on the Jobseekers Database and to receive any EPWP-related work opportunities from the City. No payment is required at any stage of the process.
